Phoebe Caroline Heretz is a dedicated board member of the UNA-USA Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter, currently pursuing a PhD in Astronomy at UMass. This year, she graduated with a BS in dual majors in Physics and Astronomy, with a minor in Applied Mathematics, from SUNY New Paltz, demonstrating exceptional academic performance and a strong commitment to scientific research.

Her research experience includes work on galaxy evolution at the Center for Astrophysics: Harvard & Smithsonian and protoplanetary disk research at Vassar College. Phoebe has presented her findings at prestigious conferences and has been recognized with awards such as the Chambliss Astronomy Achievement Student Award.

Phoebe is also actively involved in public outreach, serving as a public night lead at the Smolen Observatory and creating planetarium shows. Her volunteer work includes running physics demos for underrepresented students and collaborating on educational projects.

With skills in Python, data analysis, and science communication, Phoebe’s passion for astronomy and dedication to community engagement make her an invaluable asset to the UNA-USA Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter.
